What is MDF?

MDF, medium density fiberboard, is an engineered wood product that was developed commercially in the 1980’s.  This wood product is formed by breaking down wood into wood fibers or clumps of fibers, similar to the paper-making process.  The fibers are then mixed with an adhesive, and sometimes also with wax.  These fibers are then assembled into a thick mat, which is then heated and pressed to the desired thickness.  The process rapidly removes any moisture and causes the adhesive to strongly bind the fibers together.

How thick are the doors?
The doors are 5/8” thick.

Is the glass included when ordering doors with glass inserts?
No, we supply the hardware to install the glass to the back of the doors (glass option not available in Mission style doors).

How do I measure for the doors?
The best way to measure for a door for a cabinet with or without a face frame is to measure the opening and add 1 inch to the width and height. (For example if the opening is 17” wide and 29” high, the door size should be 18” X 30”).  This will leave a ½” overlay around the opening.  If the cabinets are frameless, measure the exact size of the old doors. If you have 1 opening and need 2 doors, simply measure the opening of the width, add 1 inch and divide by 2, the height will not be affected. (For example if the opening is 24" wide and 29" high, the 2 doors should be 12 1/2" X 30" each). DOORS WILL BE MADE TO THE EXACT SIZE SPECIFIED ON THE ORDER FORM.

What are hidden European hinges?
These are hinges that are installed (routed) into the doors and then attach to the cabinet frame.  These hinges require a ½” overlay.  When the doors are closed you will not see any hinge. We drill the holes and you simply insert the hinge in the hole, turn the 2 screws 1/4" and the door is ready to be installed onto the cabinet frame.  (See Picture on Bottom of Cabinet Door page)

Why do I need to pick left or right placement for the hinges on Eyebrow and Cathedral doors?
Since these doors can only be hung in one direction, in order for the door to swing the right way, we need to know which side to install the hinges.  Square, Slab, Mission, Shaker and Shaker Beadboard  doors can be flipped, so it doesn't matter which side the hinges are on.

Where are the hinges positioned on the doors?
The hinges are placed approximately 5 ½” down from the top and 5 ½” up from the bottom depending on the size of the door.

Can these doors be painted?
The doors are meant to be primed and painted.  There are no seams in the doors and drawer fronts so the finished product looks better than a 5 piece wood door which expands and contracts and will show the lines where the seams are located.

Can the doors be stained?
No, the doors are meant for painting.

When will I receive the doors after the order has been placed?
The doors will be shipped within 7 to 10 business days of receiving the order.

What sizes do the doors come in?
All doors are custom made to the 1/8th of an inch so we can make any size door.  We recommend no doors higher than 44”.  Any opening greater than 48” should have 2 doors.

Do the drawer fronts match the doors?
In order for the drawer fronts to match a raised panel door, it must be higher than 8”. Drawer fronts are usually flat with the edges matching the doors.

What edges are available on the doors?
We offer 3 edges.  A square edge which customarily goes with the Shaker style door or a rounded edge or a routed “B” edge which customarily goes with a slab or raised panel door.  Any edge can be put on any door.

What is priming?
Priming prepares the doors for paint.  If you choose to have us prime the doors, we will apply a professional grade primer sprayed on the doors.  When you receive the doors, all that is required is a light sanding and paint.

What if I want wood doors?
We can give you a quote on 5 panel wood doors.  We would need the style, sizes and species of wood.  These doors take 2-3 weeks to receive.

How are the doors shipped?
The doors are shipped via UPS ground or Roadway Express

Do you ship to Canada?
Yes.  Please call our toll free number for a shipping price and to place an order.

What is the handling charge?
Handling is the charge for packing the doors.  It is a total of $10.00 for an order for 20 doors or less and $20 for an order of 20 doors or more.

How do I measure for Drawer Boxes?
Measure the opening, width, height and depth, and subtract 1 inch from the width and height. (For example if the opening is 17” wide by 6” high by 22” deep, the drawer box should be 16” X 5” X 22”).

How do I assemble the drawer boxes?
Glue and nail the pieces together.

Are the rails included in the price?
Yes, the price includes the 4 sides, the bottom and the rails and ends needed to attach the finished drawer box in the opening.  (See Picture)
